Billions of dollars for the university, a fairer business environment and universal secondary education were some of the promises made to students and faculty of the University of Guyana (UG) when the first ever Presidential Candidates’ Discourse was held in a packed lecture theatre at the Turkeyen campus on Thursday.
The event, organised by the Department of Governnance and International Relations, attracted all four of the candidates, namely the PPP/C’s Donald Ramotar, AFC’s Khemraj Ramjattan, APNU’s David Granger and TUF’s Paul Persaud.
They were each given 15 minutes to make presentations after which questions were allowed from students and staff in the audience. However, only four questions were fielded with the moderator Paulette Paul stating that there were restrictions on the candidates’ time. more
