The Perils of an elections recount… – Commentary by OVNN

The Perils of an elections recount.

Where in the world is a recall requested before the first counting is over?

Georgetown, Guyana: November 29th, 2011 – For the first time in 19 years, the PPPC government is asking GECOM for a recount in 4 of Guyana’s largest regions, This act only confirms what has already been leaked in the un-certified elections results; the fact that results indicate that APNU has won the 2011 Presidential elections in Guyana.

This recount request defies logic. Where in the world is a recount requested before the counting is complete. PPPC is abusing its influence over GECOM. PPPC is abusing it’s position as the incumbent. PPPC is abusing the democratic process. PPPC is abusing the Guyanese citizens. OVNN is calling on the international community and Guyanese citizens both locally and in the diaspora to note this incredible travesty of justice. Before our very eyes, the election is being stolen from the Guyanese people. WHERE IS THE GUYANESE MEDIA??

It is important to further note that, GECOM has been in sole possession of the ballot boxes for more than 24 hours now. A recount was not anticipated, thus for all intents and purposes, the people are suspicious that PPPC operatives were given access to those ballot boxes.

Further, in all of the years of elections in Guyana, many years with overt evidence of rigging and compromised elections, a recount was never sought. What is becoming clear is that the PPPC will not concede defeat easily and GECOM is not taking firm control of the process. For all intents and purposes, GECOM is compromised and the citizens will suffer if this travesty is allowed.

OVNN is calling on GECOM to release the elections results before beginning a new recount. We further urge GECOM to take firm control of the elections process, to disassociate from the PPPC’s influence and to complete the committment they have undertaken to the Guyanese people. The Guyanese citizens are anxious, they are stressed, they are restless and this delay is not only unfair but it is an obvious breech of democratic values.

The world is watching GECOM. The world is watching the PPPC. The citizens demand transparency and fairness.    (One Voice Network News – OVNN)

A request for a recount before the count is complete wreaks of corruption and frankly does not pass the smell test. Guyanes nationals must be vigilant and demand that GECOM acts responsibly and show the world its integtity. Otherwise Guyanese ought to begin to Occupy every government building. We would like to think that GECOM will act responsibly, impartially, and honorably, and in the best interest of the Guyanese citizens, and not take it upon themselves to impose a government upon the people for whom they have not voted nor do they want.

GECOM is answerable to the Guyanese nation. The OAS report that stated

“In addition, at 6 AM on November 29th, a significant discrepancy between the number of statements of poll received by the Returning Officer for Region 4 and those processed at GECOM’s headquarters was observed.

The OAS teams stationed at GECOM’s tabulation center in Georgetown observed at least two envelopes containing statements of poll being delivered by an unaccredited and unescorted individual. ”

One would imagine that there are strict controls over individuals entering and leaving the GECOM headquarters. Therefore the gate log of persons who entered the compound from November 28 and onwards must be examined. We want to know who was this “unaccredited and unescorted individual”? and how many others like him/her were allowed to enter the compound by GECOM security. Additionally, which of the GECOM/PPP operatives actually received the SOP from the “unaccredited and unescorted” individual? How many others with stuffed envelopes entered the GECOM compound and presented those envelopes to GECOM staffers? APNU and AFC must demand that Surujbally disclose the PPP operatives masquerading of GECOM employees, under his direct supervision who received packets from “unaccredited and unescorted” individuals containing SOPs that were counted as legitimate PPP votes. It is clear that the PPP wanted a recount before the preliminary results are made public because they knew that these votes delivered by the “unaccredited and unescorted” individuals would be added to the pool of PPP votes.

The Guyanese nation must not accept any result that emanates from this corrupt and contaminated process.

“This recount request defies logic. Where in the world is a recount requested before the counting is complete?”. Logic DOES NOT WORK HERE.
    i THINK compromise does
What if they have finished the count and have found out that APNU won but have been asked to make sure that the results are reversed, hence the stalling. Think about that.
Every time Gecom PPPites recount they can increase the PPP votes to come closer to APNU; and eventually they will pass APNU by leaps and bounds. That may b Gecom’s other role in these elections.
But remember their president told them to guard their gains and what is becoming clear is that the PPPC will not concede defeat easily as GECOM is there to ensure that APNU will not win. APNU’s loss is a loss for all Guyana.
Smart talking ape is not to b trusted as the ape seems to b buying time maybe for the foreign observers to leave
Then the army and police will dish out brutality to the people for 1 month tax free salary bonus, when they protest the results. But God is watching Gecom and he will plea Guyana’s case.
    Devious, Deceptive and Deadly=Gecom
STOP THE RECOUNT AND DECLARE ELECTIONS RESULTS BEFORE EGYPT DOES.
