Scotland Yard doing the Bolt Pose

By Vibert A. Lampkin

Even Scotland Yard is doing the Bolt Pose. After today’s mesmerizing 4x100m world record-breaking run, maybe the Brits may adopt the Pose as a salute to excellence!

I wonder what Carl Lewis would say now. Yesterday Bolt put him in his place at the News Conference. Bolt now holds world records in 100m, 200m & 4x100m. He has done what no other sprinter has ever done – back to back to back in his three events in consecutive Olympic Games. And if Jamaica had not been disqualified in the 4x400m he was due to run a leg in the final. He started out as a 400m and 200m man and then switched to the 100m.

Of course only the Americans are supposed to break records. When the women’s 4x100m won the race taking .50 second off of the world record, I did not hear anyone say that they were juiced up with enhanced performing drugs. But when the little Chinese girl dazzled them last week in the pool, the American coach was quick to say that her performance was ‘suspicious’. They just can’t take it when it is handed out to them. In contrast look at the ready admission of fault by the Canadian runner in the 4x100m today – just by stepping on the dividing line, not crossing it – thus depriving his team of the bronze medal – and Canada of its 19th medal. As he said the rule is unforgiving.
