What an excellent historical tribute to the first people of Guyana as we celebrate Amerindian Month and Heritage.
Thank you Guyanese Online and our brother and son Cyril Bryan for the promotion and sharing of these special stories of our dear land of Guyana for which we have so much to celebrate and to be proud of.
There are endless lessons to be learned from the thousands of year of adaptation and way of life of our native people who’s harmonically and natural way, points the way forward to a sustainable future…

What is your suggestion for the way forward after a long month of Observations and Reflections on the Amerindian heritage Month. The sustainable future lies in the exchange programs that we can now plan and prepare for the wider population of Coastal Guyanese who may have never had the opportunity to travel into the vast hinterlands of Guyana. As we bring the Amerindian integration forward we must put in place some programs whereby our Coastal dwellers and especially the youths who can go to live in the Amerindian settlements for varying periods of six weeks to six months. In such a time they can learn the methods of adaptation and the culture of the Amerindians and can also develop the available lands in the settlement of the Amerindians. It will also call for the development of Infrastructure and expansion of these settlements! These activities must be put in place if a serious development for the sustainable future is to take place or else every year we will continue to observe this great Heritage and wait for next year to do the same. No some form of tangible program with a time frame for results must be put in place from now. Good Luck folks.
