More questions in the deaths of Rodrigues and Puran – commentary

More questions than answers in the deaths of Rodrigues and Puran – OVNN Commentary

October 16, 2012: Georgetown, Guyana: Yesterday, Ricardo Rodrigues, a close associate of jailed drug kingpin Roger Khan, was shot and killed by gunmen at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) in Georgetown, just days after being released on bail following his detention over the unearthing of an arms cache in Lethem. Today, his attorney Vic Puran mysteriously ‘ran off the road’ and into a trench with his vehicle. He was later found dead by residents of the Mahicony area. (Dr. Leslie Ramsammy picture  at right)

While we at OVNN believe in coincidence, it will require a suspension of disbelief to convince Guyanese citizens that the deaths of Puran and Rodrgues were not related. OVNN is urging local investigators to ensure that toxicology tests are conducted on Attorney Puran’s body.

Ricardo Rodrigues was a known soldier in drug dealer, Roger Khan’s phantom squad. That he has been connected to both the PPPC party and Roger Khan is undisputed. It is a well known fact that members of the ruling PPPC in Guyana attended Ricardo’s wedding. Drug Dealer Roger Khan will be remembered for being employed as the money and the muscle of PPPC government the early 2000′s after the 2001 notorious jail break. Khan’s ‘crime fighting’ activities were sanctioned by PPPC Minister Ramsammy  (pictured above), and by implication President Jagdeo; It was Ramsammy who signed the letter of approval for drug dealer Roger Khan to import spy equipment in Guyana to spy on the leaders of the armed forces at that time. In his own words, Khan stated that, he and his elite group of mercenaries were responsible for assisting the Guyana Police Force (GPF) in combating five escapees whom it is believed were responsible for a number of robberies and murders. Roger Khan.

“When governments befriend criminals, law and order becomes unmanageable, … it often provides fertile ground for the cultivation of lawlessness and crime in untold proportions”. Some say that the deaths of Rodrigues and Puran are attempts of a wealthy and powerful cabal to obscure the facts in ‘the case of the high powered smuggled weapons’.

Since the facts are not clear, OVNN is urging all Guyanese to ask themselves these very important questions:-
1) Why did AG Anil Nandilall not show up for Ricardo Rodrigues’ day in court?
2) Why did the magistrate let a man suspected of smuggling high powered weapons into Guyana free on a paltry $100,000 GY bail [$500 USD] Last week a teenage girl was remanded to jail without bail for possession of grams of marijuana.
3) Who were the high powered weapons for?

It stands to reason that if the weapons were a threat to the PPPC government, they would have extended their long reach to ensure that Rodrigues was never granted bail and they would have been sure to reinforce the importance of AG Nandilall’s presence in court for this very important case. They did neither. We are left to therefore concluded that the weapons were smuggled for the purpose of arming ‘friends of the PPPC’, but why?

The PPPC are a nervous party today. Citizens are restless. They compare their lives of poverty and suffering with the PPPC elite who continue to steal taxpayer dollars and they are not happy. Their children are at risk as the police department; under the orders of the PPPC government, encourage nightly patrols of African communities, routinely harassing and arresting Black youth. There are protests popping up in towns all over Guyana; they are under opposition scrutiny in parliament; they cannot steal as much as they used to; and most importantly, in spite of all of their attempts to control the armed forces, they find it difficult to view them as a professional unit and thus are wary of the divisions and loyalties of the ranks. They have therefore decided to build their own private militia. A militia staffed by their supporters, trained by overseas mercenaries, and funded by drug smuggling, taxpayer dollars and local business interests.

So rather than risk a Ricardo Rodrigues trial, risk exposure, risk names being called, and risk further outrage of the people; some unnamed representative has given the order to ‘clean up’ the mess. The last remaining piece of which seems to be Puran’s files. OVNN is urging lawyers who share Puran’s building to be aware of the risk of a break-in of Puran’s office or an upcoming suspicious fire. It seems to be the last remaining piece in this sordid and sad tale of a compromised government forced to make deals with the devil because of their lack of trust of their own armed forces. All peace loving citizens of Guyana should be very concerned with these recent developments. Guyanese want a government of peace and unity, not death and destruction.

I believe this commentary is biased, libelous, and mischevous. It gives a false representation of the atmosphere in Guyana and seeks to defend and manipulate a small cadre of poor and gullible opposition supporters. Nervous people are the ones in the street destroying properties and scaring citizens. The Gov’ has to be vigilant and prepared not scared. Why not lead these mobs away from destructive behaviours into more productive undertakings? Freedom of speech is great but not when used to manipulate and incite and I believe this commentary was for that exact reason.

Chandra…you shouldn’t be accusing anyone of being bias. You own the Crown for that. Facts are facts and you need to face that. I don’t know which Guyana you’re living in because if anyone is giving false representation of the atmosphere in Guyana it’s you.

very good article. we dont expect any confessions from the devils who occupy hell, about who is responsible for the national embarrassment and disaster guyana has become.once the police r not hounding indians all is well and good in guyana. once its the indians who own property and stealing the national wealth, cleaning out clico and nis, currupting the minds of youths, discriminating left, right and center, all is well with the indian soul.
mind u i am not racist nor bias. but facts are facts.

My My! We all know that dead men tell no tales. A certain well known citizen said ” Let God be my judge” May God be JUDGE of all of us and I say Father God, let the clean up begin in Guyana. We Guyanese need a breath of the fresh air of righteousness. Let righteouness, integrity and justice flow in and corruption and bad business flow out of Guyana.

Does anyone remember the circumstances surrounding the death of Dr. Charles Washington Chandisingh? Speculation was rife at a time when I was too young to remember the details.
The doctor was a passenger in the back seat of a DeSoto driven by someone whose last name might have been Sankar. The car crashed into a bridge and a hand rail went through the windscreen and struck the doctor dead. I remember my grand parents talking about the case – in Hindi! – a sure indicator that sex might have been involved. The question of accidental or intentional death was hotly debated.

Hi Ron – I do have all details regarding the circumstances surrounding Dr. Chandisingh’s demise. I am his daughter who was also in that car the night I will never forget.

Guyana PPPC Minister Ramsammy feigns outrage but cannot dispute facts

Georgetown, Guyana: October 18th, 2012 — While Minister Ramsammy feigns outrage at being linked to Roger Khan, the phantom squad and the spying on leaders of the armed forces in Guyana, his cries cannot hide that the facts supporting the OVNN assertions are undisputed. Even as Ramsammy runs to government airways and media to spew his erroneous defense, he refuses to directly address the real issue.
Let the esteemed Minster tell the Guyanese people about the 2002 letter sent to an official of a Miami-based Spy Shop confirming support for the purchase of a “cell phone interceptor and geographic integrator” on behalf of the Government of Guyana.
The letter, “Re: Acquiring the services of cell phone interceptor and geographic integrator,” is dated October 24, 2002, just two months before the intercept equipment was seized from drug trafficker Roger Khan and others by members of the joint services. It is addressed to someone named “Nancy”. Nancy Salvador has been revealed in court documents as being an employee of the spy shop in Miami. Further pressed on the issue and informed that the letter includes his ministry’s official letterhead with the ministry’s telephone numbers, Minister Ramsammy said, “Yeah but I don’t know anything.”
That then President Jagdeo, Party Chair Donald Ramotar and the PPPC cabal with Minister Ramsammy acting as front man refused a proper explanation to the Guyanese people, and were allowed to get away with it, only emboldened them and allowed them to ramp up their corruption and mayhem leaving an increasing number of Guyanese in poverty and hopelessness.
Let the esteemed Minister explain evidence presented in NY court proceedings involving Roger Khan and his lawyer Robert Simels; that indicated the presence of a UK expert in Guyana to train drug trafficker Roger Khan in the use of sophisticated spy equipment. The same equipment which the protesting Minister approved by letter on letterhead from his office.

Incredible. This is like an old gangster movie. Does anyone know what happened to Puran’s file. Good story for a book.
