Let’s begin the Budget Debate in the House of Representatives and let’s see what happens to the allocations for national Security, Education, Health and the Airport Extension Projects. Would the Combined Opposition support these measures or would there be a repeat of last year’s Budget Cuts? The country’s Economic Development depends on a successful Budget.

As an old Guyanese I cannot understand the opposition’s obsession with Mr. Rohee at the expense of possible beneficial policies or programs. I would like to see somebody better than Rohee but it is the effectiveness of the GPF and its leadership lthat is the real issue. I would prefer to hear how the budget could be made better and who would get more and who less in order to make the budget balance. Tlhere are 3 choices, Emphasize interstructure, or ljob creation or poverty reduction or attempt to seek to accomodate two or more of these goals.. Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not very popular. Time for parliament to decide what policies would best serve the nation progress and what sacrifices will have to be made. The opposition must better engage the governent to make better decisions in a fair and effective manner regarding large investments in sugar and other perojects and programs.
