This entry was submitted by Dmitri Allicock:

Exactly 50 years ago England and West Indies were involved in one such encounter. It still remains one of the greatest Tests of all time — the balance of which shifted from one side to the other over the five-day period before culminating in one of the greatest climaxes cricket has witnessed.

    A great and thrill-filled ending.
But for me, cricket’s greatest event was the Brisbane tied test.

    Another memorable event was…
A Territorial match and the radio commentary was mere backdrop to whatever else I was doing. But this caught my attention.
    “He’s out!”
    “Ohhh he’s dropped!”
    “He’s out!!!”
What was going on at Bourda?
It turned out that the batsman put one into the hands of Basil Butcher – and he dropped it!
The batsmen had started on a run but Butcher had recovered and threw the ball, broke the wicket … and one of the batsmen was run out.
I remember the commentator saying how unusual it is for a player to recover so marvelously from a potentially devastating misfield.
Do you get the idea that I am not much of a sports fan?
    You would be correct.
