We all know the Mighty Sparrow. Many are aware that his time may be short with us in this World. I think he’s was in a coma, but is now recovering.
Congo Man, Obeah Wedding, Witch Doctor, Both of Them, Mr. Walker Daughter..

He was master entertainer I really loved him as an entertainer. He was given a gift and he shared it with everyone.

It’s important to enjoy the rich sweetness our artists have given to us, to uplift us when we are down, & to pay tribute to them when they are down.
What better way than to acknowledge their contributions?

You learnt about Combat Strategy during the Cold War when Sparrow asked:

” If America is attacking Russia from behind, would Greece Help?”

You learnt about Economics when Sparrow educated us…
” Romance without Finance is a bloody Nuisance.”

You learnt about Culinary Appreciation – “All Saltfish Sweet. ”

Below is a Video Clip of Maria. How many times fellas sang the last verse to a girl… substituting Maria for the girl’s name.

“Ah Love The Way You Walk Marie, And Ah Love The Way You Talk Maria
And Ah Love The Way You Smile Maria.”

As you watch the video clip, pay attention to Sparrow flirting with the chorus girl named Maria.

I love this man not only as a singer and a calysonian, but as a man – look at how he regards every note and word of this song; look at how his body reacts to both rhythm and word; which of his creation is without the Sparrow touch? My prayer is that his life is spared sufficiently in oder to teach more lessons of love and loving to all of us who hunger after those lessons.

Love you Sparrow. Hang in there my friend. I first heard your music at a party
in 1963 here in Vancouver. I was at UBC and I also worked with a Social Worker
Carlos Charles, a Trinidadian (he is a lawyer now). I was from Wales and just loved West Indian music. Your music made me dance and laugh. I have listened
to you ever since. The last time I saw you in Vancouver I gave you a big hug as
I could see you were not your usual vibrant self even then. I wish I could remember the year that was but you know how it is when one gets older. I am 82
now and I cannot always remember names or years. I shall never forget you my
dear friend. I pray daily for your recovery so we can see you again.
