Dreaming and Doing:
A Vision for Excellence Engagement
April 6-12, 2014
On behalf of Fort Valley State University, I would like to extend a warm invitation to you to the upcoming Inauguration Installation Ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2014 in Fort Valley, Georgia. On this day, Dr. Ivelaw Lloyd Griffith will be installed by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia as the ninth president of an institution that has served as a beacon of light for students since 1895. It would be an honor to have you join our Fort Valley State family as we engage in a celebration of “Dreaming and Doing: A Vision of Excellence Engagement.” Moreover, we would also be honored by your participation as part of the academic procession.
The investiture ceremony on Friday begins at 10 a.m. in the Health and Physical Education Complex on campus. However, we are asking that delegates planning to be in the processional please arrive with your academic regalia no later than 8 a.m. and enjoy a continental breakfast in the robing area. Also, we are hosting a scholarship gala on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Hundreds of Fort Valley State’s local, national and international supporters are expected to attend this exciting and historic event, which will be preceded by an entire week of inauguration activities, including a gospel concert, art exhibition, community Day of Service, community forum, and even a soccer exhibition.
