Guyana: New passports to be issued starting March 30, 2015

The press statement from the ministry follows:
The Ministry of Home Affairs wishes to refer to the 2014 End of Year Address made by the Honourable Minister of Home Affairs on 31st December 2014 at the Guyana Police Force Officers Training Centre, Kingston, Georgetown.
In that address the Minister indicated that a contract was signed with Canadian Bank Note Company Limited (CBN) to upgrade the security features of Guyana’s Machine-Readable Passports in order to safeguard the integrity of the documents.
The Minister also indicated that the issuance of the new passports would commence in 2015 and the old passports would be gradually phased out.
The Ministry of Home Affairs is happy to report that the process of upgrading the passports has been completed to the satisfaction of the Ministry and issuance of the new documents will commence with effect from Monday 30th March 2015.
This project is part of the Government of Guyana’s plan to continually improve border security in Guyana.

Am surprised that CANADA (CBN) are also appointed “contractors” and suspicious on its “immediate” implementation.😈
However feel that Guyana should apply for “SHENGEN” membership if their “flag of convenience” is to have any credibility …..internationally.
My BRITISH EUROPEAN passport ( flag of convenience) gets me into most countries without need for “visa” (a formality) or money spinner ?💲
Am sceptical almost cynical but support the ideology of
“FREE MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE GOODS AND SERVICES”
Is “world without borders” possible ? maybe yes !

Hey I was serious…..Guyana has nothing to loose by enquiring/asking what the criteria for membership requires.
USA is not a signatory Canada also but sometime in future they may wish to join…..UK and Ireland qualify but decided not to join.
If Guyana does not “qualify” am sure an “affiliation” membership via a third party is possible.
Won’t be surprised to see Shengen expand to include Russia (euro would have to leave NATO first….an outdated organisation that is not only past its sell by date….it is obsolete !
In 2017 UK will have a referendum on euro ….political affiliation or not.
Unfortunately the British electorate may vote no……remembering the conflict in WW2 with Nazis…..

2017 is just 2 years away……UK election 11 may….am optimistic !

Kamtan I myself dont know if you are serious. If memory holds I think countres like Guyana were required to update features of its passport for travel to the U.S.
I think you folks from Europe are required to have an eye scan at US ports on entering the US.
The last thing the US want right now is free movement of people across our borders. We have a border problem as it is. Let you guys come here in numbers and you will take away our jobs. Can’t allow that.

job hunting (not all 26 members can) …until time qualified.
At last count think it was about .9% of uk s 68 million.
Most take jobs that uk national don’t want….for 6.50 an hour…..minimum wage.

What is more important with mass migration is that it is monitored/regulated.
The billions spent on border controls can be better spent on resettlement of economic migrants….commonsense economics…..political suicide.
As for eye scan ….another “gimmick”…what good is eye scan if I “disappear”
into the “black economy” after arrival.
The physiology of “control” is that it acts as a deterant….
Put a “wet paint” sign up…..how many would touch it to verify it is wet…..
In uk border control one que for EU/UK nationals…
other for ROW.The uk/euro ques are 10 times the other.
Every uk/EU passport is scanned…..on entry but not exit.
Absolute stupidity….no exit record only entry.
It should be scanned on exit and entry.
To conclude my friend..it is political bull to “fear” “aliens” taking away
american jobs…..my suggestion is by having one currency and free
movement of peoples interstate has helped to boost the american economy/dream. Mobility in demographics.

On the serious side we have about eleven million illegals in this country and a serious border problem with thousands more trying to cross from the Mexican side. …..We also have a share of UK nationals in the mix. The republicans in Congress are refusing to solve this problem with legislation. Do you think opening the borders and allow free movement is a solution.
Worst is that there are groups of terrorists and enemies, many of whom we created, who would love to get into our country to do harm like in 9/11……..even some in the UK. We have to try our best to protect our borders from the enemies outside.

by random selection at borders….gathering the stats then implementing the changes necessary….
I crossed from Italy to Switzerland.
There was a border crossing….this random “stop and search” was in operation.
We were 4 in our car ….may add a new VW golf….we just drove on under observation ….. Commonsense border control…not the paranoia by the
officials employed to protect us the public.
Talk to lorry drivers and frequent travellers and you will understand the
jest/just of my suggestion.
