Georgetown today… What a transformation! –and people couldn’t help but notice
AS widespread clean-up of the city of Georgetown continues, several stakeholders on Tuesday joined hearts and hands in a concerted effort to transform and beautify the landscape of the Public Buildings and its environs, preparing it for the first sitting of the National Assembly under the newly elected APNU+AFC Government.
The Guyana Chronicle sought comments from the proverbial man-in-the-street, and got the following reactions from citizens on how they feel about the initiative. [See comments below]
WHARTON MC LENNON, TCL employee:
“I think that this activity is very good, though it has been lacking for many years; and the Public Buildings look wonderful. I’d be glad if they could keep it up, and I hope that, along with the transformation on the outside, there will be transformation on the inside as well.” [Read more]

Great. now think back of Gigi’s racist comment on the dirty people of Georgetown which hardly got a response from the readers here.
Talking about clean ups, might be a good time to dump West Indian Cricket and go to it alone, leave that mess behind.
Ah Albert, I see you are one of those who likes to pull the race card to support your victim mentality and views. Poor you. How awful it must be for you to live your life this way. There, happy now you have my insincere sympathy? How about you tell these folks to do something about the spike in murders under the new govt.
I am not Albert. Just repeat the comments you made about the nasty people of Georgetown not so long ago. You are the one who is steeped in race. Remember the colours of the Guyana flag, (chosen by an American) are too “African” for you. The problem is that so many refuse to call you out on your deep-seated racism.
Thinker. It’s best to ignore stupid or ignorant folks, lest you become one. Your opinion and your thinking is similar to mine. We are positive people, and let’s keep it that way and keep the eyes open.
The problem is that Gigi has been allowed to make the most racist statements with hardly a word coming from anyone. She also lies outright as I have had cause to point out. We cannot run the risk of people believing her lies, just as we can’t allow misleading opinions on Hitler to pass without comment. Gigi for instance did not know that over the rank of captain one is entitled to be referred to as such and tried to imply that Brigadier Granger was just being arrogant in carriying the title though retired. We have to keep standards up, particularly because the other Guyanese online groups are full of race hate.
