Beautiful. A part of China we don’t usually see.

Breathtakingly beautiful. My son just accepted a professorship at a university in China in the city where Confucius was born. Cannot spell the name correctly and toggling between screens on Kindle is tricky. But it was the capital of China at one time. I hope to visit sometime in the future especially if I can combine it with a visit to Kashmir where my mother’s roots are; plus a pilgrimage following the Buddha’s birth and his path/journey from India to his final resting place in Nepal. Or backwards, from Nepal to India. To experience this transcendentialist utopia would be spiritually awakening.

The color and opacity of the water in some of the water-ways is a bit revolting to me.
My frames of reference are memories of the East- and West- Demerara Water Conservancies and the pristine waterways of the South Savannahs of the Rupununi.
Indeed, back in 1982, I boasted to a small group of Environmentalists that “Guyana is one place where I could bury my face in a stream and drink to my heart’s content”.
Of course, I might want to re-phrase that, now.
