There is a disconnect in the American story.
On May 30th, 1868 the first Memorial Day was celebrated in America. Students from the nation placed flowers at the graves of soldiers and there were observances in various states.
In December 2000, Congress established the White House Commission on The National Monument of Remembrance to help Americans remember and reflect on the meaning of Memorial Day. One of the reasons why Congress took this measure was as a result of a survey that was undertaken by the Commission in 1996. The majority of students surveyed reported that Memorial Day ‘was the day when the pools opened.’ Albert Shanker, that philosopher of education, must be extremely disappointed. The disconnect runs deeper and we will examine it in future publications.
New York City has 1.1 million students in its 1,800 public schools. This makes it the city with the biggest public school population in America. The child in Brooklyn was going to school for the first time. When asked what was so special about school she replied that school would allow her to make friends and also to learn new things. This is as appropriate as it gets.

Maybe USA should adopt the EU dream now……27 countries with free movement
of goods services and peoples..
Solution for EU refugee crisis.
Steer them towards Saudi Arabia where hundreds thousands of air conditioned
unoccupied tents await them. …..western allies refusing to support that regime by purchasing their oil. Hypocracy of our political cl asses.
Sad sad world…..only positive is am on my final lap of life.😇
