Paris. France:What to Expect After the Nov. 13 Paris Attacks
Analysis – Update (6:00 CST): According to French media reports, French security forces have stormed and secured the Bataclan theater. The attackers apparently used grenades inside the main concert hall, Aujourd’hui Paris reported Nov. 13. Details are still emerging.
As many as 60 people died Nov. 13 in multiple terrorist attacks throughout Paris. At least five gunmen – likely jihadists judging from witness’s accounts – conducted the attacks.
Timeline of the Attack
The attacks, which were clearly coordinated, took place in multiple locations and involved different methods. In the first wave, two suicide bombers detonated their explosives at locations near the Stade de France, where a soccer match between France and Germany was taking place. (French President Francois Hollande himself was at the stadium at the time of the attack. He was escorted from the scene and met with French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve in a closed meeting shortly thereafter.) It is unclear whether grenades or other explosives were used, and it is possible a suicide bomber may have been involved. [Read more]

Surprise surprise !
Not in your back yard.
Why are French involved in Iraq and Syria militarily.?😈💲
International espionage works ! Compound that with bombings/drones technology and viola “retaliation” …..security forces in France are incompetent
Questions should be asked ! Followed by “answers/action.
Paris is the last city to be on my ” wish” list as tourist.🐩
Infiltration of jihadist organisations must be top priority of security institutions ….
Little too late or better late than never.
War on terror as per George w bush is “stupid”…. Let sleeping dogs lie
or expect retaliation….get the hell of syria Iraq arabian gulf. Cop
It’s an Arab issue so let Arabs resolve it. Can of worms.
My position on issue……or expect more such attacks on French soil !
Naive politricks.

From the Daily Kos [in part] Thank God President Obama is in the White House
The horrific terrorist attack yesterday in Paris has struck at all our hearts. We’ve had our differences with France as we’ve had differences with any friend, but today we mourn for those who fell victim to the cowardly attacks of fanatics, and we stand solidly with the French people as they work through their grief.
But make no mistake, there will be a military response to these attacks, and America will be with the French in this response. The only question is, what type of response will it be, and what part will the U.S. play? Will our part be an Iraq style attack in Syria, or will it be a support role?
Imagine if we had a President McCain, or Rubio, or Carson, or Bush… If we had a President McCain, we would already be deep in Syria dealing with IED’s, ambushes, collateral damage… If we had any of the clowns in today’s GOP clown car, I believe we would soon be going very heavily into Syria. But we are extremely fortunate that we don’t have the clowns, we actually have an adult in the White House.
Sadly, President Obama will have to respond to the terrorists, the only question is how? The French will have to make a direct response and we will have to assist them in every way possible. I’m afraid we are going to see U.S. boots on the ground in Syria. But unlike a large scale invasion force, which I believe any of the GOP candidates would do, I think President Obama will think through this carefully and we’ll end up with more Special Forces and support troops somewhere near Syria. Surgical strikes when possible will become the new norm.
But a cowboy attitude with flexing muscles can play into the hands of the fanatics and take our nation down a path that leads to a massive increase in more active fanaticism, just as we saw in 2003. And the U.S. cannot afford to waste another $2 Trillion in a futile effort to fight the problems of the 21st century with the antiquated military tactics of the 20th century.
So yes, I am thankful we have President Obama’s cool head that will be making the VERY difficult decisions that lie ahead in the coming months. And if you don’t think voting is critical to our very survival, sit back and imagine the U.S. response if any of the current GOP candidates was occupying the White House today.

Daily Kos – fisknp breaks it down:
(1) Well, in the wake of a terror attack, Step One is to forget about “the score” completely …
Whenever some notorious rapist is caught, exactly 100 percent of the conversations or Internet comment sections about the subject will say, ‘I hope he gets raped in prison!’
See, because that would “even the score.” But even five seconds’ consideration demonstrates how monstrous that idea is: “rape is awesome, as long as it’s targeted toward people who deserve it!” No, the cruel reality is that if that guy gets raped, the score isn’t: Rapist 1, Society 1.
It’s: Rape 2, Society 0 …
So the next time you turn on the news and see that terrorists have blown up 10 children with a car bomb, that’s the first step: Realize that the scoreboard lies. It will tell you that winning the game means dropping bombs that you know full well will splatter ten times as many children as collateral damage. The score — the real score — would then be:
Violence Against Children 110, Humanity 0
(2) When a bunch of terrorists blow up a school or shoot up an office full of cartoonists, do you think it’s because they don’t know we have guns and bombs and drones? You think they do what they do because they believe we’re “too weak to strike back” and that we thus need to “show them how strong we are?” …
They know exactly what we’re going to do: We’re going to overreact. We do it every time. That’s why they do it. So stop, step back, and understand something that most of America doesn’t:
They do what they do, because they know we’re too weak to resist striking back.
Our knee-jerk, bomb-dropping reflex is our weakness. They are trying to exploit it, because retaliation bombings are how they recruit more terrorists to their side. And please note that when I talk about their “side,” I’m not talking about Islam, or even Islamic terrorism. Their “side” is what I’m going to henceforth call Team Violence … The bully doesn’t fight because he wants to win; he fights because he wants a world in which everything is resolved by fighting (note: The bully himself doesn’t realize this). It doesn’t matter if he loses — the moment you chose to fight, his side already won, and the world becomes more like the world he wants to live in …
In other words, “We can’t beat them, unless we become more like them.” It’s like a doctor telling you he’s going to get rid of your tumor by growing a bigger, meaner tumor next to it. Even if it works, Team Cancer wins, and you just fell for a scam that has been tripping up humanity for 200,000 years or so.
(3) Soon after the attack, commentators will appear on every screen in your home explaining in snide, sarcastic tones how the courageous choice is to hate Muslims — like they’re the lone, brave voice in a world afraid to hold such a controversial opinion.
The reality … is that your most automatic, unthinking reflex is always to hit back, and that growing up means resisting it …
It’s the thinking part — the human part — that says to stop, resist the initial urge, and actually think about what action will make the world better.
The profundity of David Wong’s, “Six Ways to Keep Terrorists From Ruining The World”:
Obviously what’s all on our minds right now is the horrific attack in Paris, in which Islamic militants massacred an office full of comedians for drawing pictures that mocked their religion (if you’re reading this in the future, just insert whatever mass killing is most recent to you — it will still apply).
Question…..are we pacifists or human.
Reacting is not the solution nor is revenge ….although sweet.
What struck me most is that no one tried to disarm the gunners while they were reloading….or even stormed or tried to over power them. Guess that is pacifism or cowardice.
Ways I see it.
de Castro: Perhaps, after you sit through an event such as those people experienced, you will understand the concept of “trauma” ….
Imagine, you go out to the restaurant with a few friends to have a meal, hang out, drink a few glasses of wine and suddenly a few people show up – their only motive is to kill on a Friday evening, at that – any evening would be horrors.
How prepared are you for that eventually? Even the people who walked away on that day without a scratch “physically” – are emotionally scarred – traumatized – for the rest of their lives – perhaps, some may commit suicide because it is too unbearable to cope with the post traumatic reliving of the event.
It is not like the gunmen showed up pointed the gun at the patrons and said “Give me your money!” – They showed up to kill – kill – kill – that’s it. No conversation, no talk.
Unless, you are a card carrying member of a gun club, who is routinely out and about with guns and the constant firing of guns at a firing-range, or out hunting. There is no way you would be prepared to react the way you are suggesting.
Even if you are practising judo 2-3 times a week, you may react as you suggest; but how many friends and associates you know that has been down to the gym this week?
Coward man keep whole bones!!
Clyde
Partly agree…..however as an opportunist … was I near enough to gunman not injured or dead would certainly have attempted “suicide” by trying to overpower him as he reloaded to continue his killings.
Guess its what makes me who I am…at 72 and fit nothing seems impossible.

Simple
If USA UK EU Russia did not become involved in the internal “conflicts” of these nation states
this “refugee” crisis may never have happened.
United Nations have failed in its role as “peacekeepers” of the planet.
The consequences of this ineptitude by “League of nations” ….its original name….will have
a profound effect on future world conflicts.
After WW2 the victors USA UK FRANCE and RUSSIA distributed the “spoils of war”
Now it returns to haunt them. Surprise surprise….KARMA.
Unless the UN goes through a reformation and become more democratic in its
constitution it should be disbanded. The UN security council has failed in its purpose
but it can reincarnate as peacekeepers of the planet. One member one vote…..majority
rule. Democracy in practice. No veto powers or block voting either.
Point my finger in their direction.
