What the world worries about

BREXIT in June, then Trump in November and next year the threat of Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s Eurosceptic party. Populism has rarely been so popular, and Western democratic and international institutions look increasingly fragile. A recent survey of 25 countries by Ipsos MORI, a pollster, reveals the widespread discontent on which populists have preyed. In Britain and America 60% and 63% of respondents said their country was on the wrong track. In perpetually disgruntled France, that figure is a whopping 89%.

The underlying causes of this dissatisfaction vary by country. Unemployment is the main worry in France, but not in Britain or America, where immigration and terrorism dominate. Germans, who will hold elections next year, fret about poverty and inequality. Those who vote for populist parties and politicians often focus on single issues at the expense of other problems. In Britain, less-educated white voters, who are suspected to have voted in droves for leaving the European Union, may find they suffer the most from an alternative settlement rather than full membership.

And convincing those who fail to see the benefits of the status quo can be difficult. In France, the proportion of people who worry about unemployment is five times the actual rate of the unemployed. In Britain, anxiety over immigration is more than three times higher than the percentage of the population who are immigrants. Telling voters that things they worry about are bad, but not as bad as they think, is unlikely to win over a sceptical public.

“And convincing those who fail to see the benefits of the status quo can be difficult.”

The sycophants of the status quo doing what they are hired to do. Well, since individuals with Asperger dominate govt, wall street, major corporations, the public should indeed be EXTREMELY skeptical of these people given that they lack empathy, including their sycophants, who are likely on the lower end of the spectrum so being sniveling a$$ kissers comes naturally and is normal to them.

Interesting, black males have a higher rate of autism but on the low end of the spectrum/low functioning. Guyanese should be aware of this to understand the PNC/WPA party in Guyana – low intelligence AND lacking empathy.

I am really beginning to wonder if consistently racist remarks were being made about any other group, the racists would not have been banned by now. We notice how quickly there was a call by a certain Trinidadian to ban an individual for what was considered insensitive anti-Indian remarks. Yet in discussing autism Gigi makes her usual racist points extending them to the PNC and WPA. No one other than a very limited group of about three individuals who are all primarily of African origin will raise a word of protest. Gigi is Trumpian in her repetition of lies. Let it continue and racists of every hue will feel comfortable promoting nonsense on this forum. Up to 6 can play the game. The relevant info on autism is here http://www.forbes.com/sites/emilywillingham/2015/07/22/robert-f-kennedy-jr-gets-it-wrong-about-african-american-boys-and-autism/#5dd2a2f73f39

      To Gigi:

I have been very patient with you and some of your derogatory comments against Africans or Blacks. I have depended on other readers to deal with you. Others have decided to ignore you completely as an unstable person.

I do not care if you agree with Trump and his philosophy, as you are entitled to your political opinion.
I do not care if you like the present coalition government in Guyana or not as that is your opinion as well.
However, if you have to sink to slurs on people of colour at every opportunity then I will have to stop you from doing this on this blog.

Again, I must point out that I have not edited your entries in the past. I have let you express yourself with the hope that there are lively discussions on this blog. However, I had asked everyone to refrain from personal attacks and I notice that this has decreased.

However Gigi, you have continued your attacks on Black people… and you will be banned from this blog if they continue.

Good call Mr. Editor. Gigi has no place on this Blog. Intellectuals do not behave in such a deranged manner and there’s no doubt in my mind that her dominoes are missing a few dots.
