Monday was Commonwealth Day, but instead of flying the Commonwealth flag for the occasion, Ottawa orders all federal buildings to fly a *British* flag for the day. Ironically, the group’s flag is based on a Canadian design! We ought to fly that instead, and take pride that our design was adopted in 52 countries.
Using the Commonwealth flag for this day is an initiative supported by The Commonwealth itself. A petition seeks to update Canada’s antiquated flag rules, including this one. Read, sign, and share it if you agree with its common sense: https://www.change.org/p/put-the-canadian-flag-first .
