I own up to a bias for persons who have earned a degree, or two, from an institution (hold the humor about ‘people in institutions’) of higher learning.
I started to read the foregoing essay with that bias; until I came to the heading:
“Truth and Lies: Garbage Journalists and Arm Chair Militarists”
    “Garbage Journalists”? Really?
I “cut my teeth” on the writings of R B O Hart, Carl Blackman, Archie Codrington and Rickey Singh. The radio and daily newspaper still remain my favorite media. Those guys were “up in Burnham’s face”.
Fears were expressed for their safety and longevity; unfortunately bolstered by the lives and deaths of Vincent Teekah, Shirley Field-Ridley and Dr. Walter Rodney. There may be others. I really do not know.
Sorry, Prof. Petras, I stopped reading your essay at that point.
I am sure that I have lost some edification and / or upliftment by my decision; but you know something?
The alternative may have been much worse.
