    “We are not amused!” She would repeat. The first occasion was when her head was blown off – 1953? One newspaper reported, “The head of the statue was decapitated”. She would have repeated the statement when the statue, in parts, was relegated to somewhere in the back of the Botanical Gardens, where it lay in ignominious repose for some years.
    I grew up in Georgetown; and I am a better person because Leslie (later Dr.) P Cummings taught us at “Saints”. He would encourage us to share “odd facts” for about ten minutes each week. It is amazing how much there is to know about people and places in that “Garden City” which we all remember so well.
