A major fire has engulfed the Camp Street prison after prisoners ambushed female guards and seized their weapons.

Prisoners are being evacuated from the facility. There are fears for the lives of others in the compound and the Capital Section is said to have gone up in flames. A prison officer has been shot twice and has been taken to hospital. Other injured persons have been seen being taken from the compound. Security forces have cordoned off the scene. Update: Georgetown prison burnt; prisoners being shuttled away; shots ring out as night falls

As Sunday night falls, further chaos erupted at the Georgetown Prison and its environs, fire and prison officials have confirmed.

Numerous shots rang out as police and soldiers sought to prevent several of the prisoners who were moved to the officers mess from the burning jail as a holding area. A number of the inmates also burnt the prison officers mess.

Meanwhile, numerous inmates were shuttled away in open back truck trays and enclosed vehicles to other prisons and police lockups.

At Buxton, police cordoned off a ditched car that might have been used by a number of escapees. Reports are that shortly after the fire four men hijacked a car on Bent and George Streets and fled the scene.

It is a known fact that the prison is outdated – a hazard – and needed to be relocated. I suppose this fire has eliminated the excuses and the procrastination.

Over at SN, they are reporting that 24 hours have passed and still the jail breakers in collusion with THE masterminds behind this clandestine operation – those who colluded but escaped conviction AND those convicted for the brutal and barbaric hacking to death of innocent citizens, including very young children – have still not been caught despite the “intense efforts” being parroted by the dwellers on this here Island of Doctor Moreau.

Hmmm…I wonder if this is uncle tom’s way of getting the money from the Brits to build a new prison that the Jamaicans rejected or vice versa? Well, looks like Halliburton arrived in time! Their special ops boys will make sure that their people are hunkered down and fully protected while the non-black native communities live in fear. This situation has PNC-APNU-WPA-AFC brutishness all over it. Just when you want to/are ready to have faith in the white man and give them the benefit of the doubt, they make it so that this kind of stuff happen. Sign…
