Unpaid African labour, and unfairly paid Indo-Asian labour made Guyana, Suriname and french department Guyana. They don’t teach you that anymore at Queen’s College, Bishops or St. Stanislaus because the Americanized NGOs have imposed their white America into the education curriculum.
Like if I give any damn about what a Caucasian woman is complaining when she wants a CEO job with an associates degree?
@ Mark, good point, but when you take into account the cost for the slave, transportation cost to America, food, housing, clothing and other expenses, I’m sure you will agree that African labour was not fully unpaid and, in fact, was costlier than indentured labour.
@ Gigi, I’m a descendant of slaves from West Africa, and I disagree that we should incorporate the hidden ‘costs’ to transport slaves from West Africa to Americas, in addition to ‘food, clothing and shelter’.
Slaves were forced to work for no pay. They were forced from their homes in West Africa against their will to work for free in the Americas. No mutual contract was agreed for this ‘labour’.
Indentured labourers from Asia were coerced to work for low pay in the Americas, but they did not suffer as much as African slaves.
What we can agree upon is that human rights violations such as slavery, forced labour and human trafficking are crimes against humanity.
