In a recent press conference Presidential Candidate Mr. Lennox Shuman of the Liberty and Justice Party was asked, “Why did you not have a meeting with the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) on coalescing, even though you met with all the presidential candidate of all the political parties?”
He responded that a formal letter was sent to request a meeting but the PPP/C did not respond. Shuman then claimed that officials were sent by the PPP/C to negotiate with the Liberty and Justice Party through a back door, secretly.
He said that his party then refused the proposal since it was not made publicly on their agreement.
He further stated as the former Vice Chair of The National Toshaos Council, many of the chiefs, many of the Toshaos who visited the Ministry of Amerindian People’s Affairs during the PPP’s tenure were cursed, chased out, and verbally abused by the then Permanent Secretary, Nigel Dharamlall.
They were even approached with bribes to cast their ballots for the PPP/C, Shuman added.
In a letter to the editor in another section of the press, Nigel Dharamalall responded during his tenure, which ended in May 2015, anyone who worked with him can attest to the immediate attention he gave to any visiting Toshao or village representative to his office.
During his time in office, Shuman was not a Chief or Toshao. As a matter of fact, Nigel Dharamlall first met Shuman in 2016; as such, Shuman’s utterance is a figment of his devious imagination, the former Permanent Secretary said.
This publication made attempts to contact General Secretary of the PPP/C; Bharrat Jagdeo to confirm Shuman’s claims however up to press time, he was unreachable.

The PPP had 22 years to show love, respect and support for the Amerindian peoples of Guyana and Jag Jag did nothing for them. Now he’s hustling to do what he does best “back door deals”. Shuman was right to tell him to Kiss off!!!

If it was Jagdeo, it would be another back door!
The PPP/C is clutching on straws. First Jagdeo implored his Canadian & American supporters that they can vote for the elections in GT, despite most of them being retirees who migrated since the 70s and 80s, while claiming that the refugee crisis is a work of the government to rig the elections.
If Jagdeo gets control of the offshore oil rights, say goodbye to economical progress.
