Opposition Leader Joseph Harmon yesterday urged that the state find a mutually acceptable solution to resolve the plight of squatters at Success, East Coast Demerara, while vowing that the opposition would seek to ensure that they are treated fairly.
“The fact of the matter is that it is the state and therefore whatever takes place here, the state has to [have] a responsibility for it. Whether it’s GuySuCo, whether it’s NICIL, whether it’s Central Housing and Planning, all of it is the state. So, whatever takes place here it is the state that is responsible for everything that happens here. I want you to get that clear. You don’t have to make any distinction that it’s this one, that one or that one. Is the state.
So, it is really our concern that the state must negotiate with you to find a settlement which allows for regularisation. Too many people here have spoken about the problems you have with COVID-19, that they have been thrown out of jobs, thrown out of their homes and are therefore left homeless and penniless,” Harmon told the squatters as he observed the devastating state that some of them have been living in.

Ronald Waddell once told us that we are the Palestinians while the PPP elites are the illegal settlers.
The Opposition must take a lead role in resolving this situation and do whatever is necessary to ensure an outcome that is satisfactory to all parties involved. Don’t forget the government just barely squeaked in a win in the election and even that is suspect. APNU must let their voices be heard loud and clear and stand steadfast with the squatters.
The coalition has expressed disdain at the treatment of the squatters, but the politricks is winner takes all; the coalition has no power to do anything. The PPP is free to put a certain socio-demographic of people in open-air concentration camps and gas them with lethal bioweapons, and Pompeo will shake hands with Jagdeo for spreading democracy. Sarah Ann Lynch will reiterate that the PPP is democratic and that Guyanese voted for the right party.
The American version of democracy in Guyana is a future where certain types of people do not exist. This is why BLM and immigrant groups are fighting to the death in the USA for their right to exist and be treated fairly.
If Granger ever did this to squatters, we would be invaded by America for democracy and they would be overthrown.
The Guyanese people do have power. They just need to come together with a common goal…..fight for their rights with any means at their disposal if the govt continue it’s racist, vindictive ways of governing. Power in numbers is absolutely right!!!
Sarah Ann Lynch and her people implemented this democracy here. I doubt anyone will be protesting at the US Embassy, lest Trump starts alleging that Maduro has weapons of mass destruction in Guyana and that Venezuela and Guyana both need “democracy”.
America is a destructive and mischievous country. I hope that America, Canada, UK, and several European countries have their economies collapsed and they lose political power. As much as I loathe China for taking jobs away for infrastructure projects, Chinese people don’t interfere or destroy countries.

China ain’t dat bad yet. Chinese man cyant show his racism openly in G/Town he gon get beat up.
American man and American woman especially are protected by the military threat of the US Army which is why they can’t get criticised on social media, even on the so-called Kaieteur News and Stabroek News.
