Sarah Bowns visited Fort Langley and participated in the Douglas Day celebration on Saturday, 16 November 2013 at the Fort Langley National Historic Site. Sarah also met with her cousin, another descendent of James Douglas, Cynthia Fleming – for the first time. Cynthia was born in South America. Stick with this blog – there is more information to come.

WHAT HAS the DOUGLAS connection done for, or will plan to do, for the people of his birth-place, Guyana ?

I need this information. Can a born Guyanese with a valid Guyanese passport that expires in 2017 take his wife to Guyana for a 7 or 8 days visit without a visa on her Venezuelan passport so as to avoid going to Caracas for a visit visa ?

Yes and No depends , he would be ok but his wife carrying a Venezuelan passport may be questioned. If you can answer this question then I may be able to say more. The authorities may wonder if you are really married then she can lean on your strength, but if she insist on having an independent passport, you may forsee problems.
    They come easy in Guyana.

She will need a visa if she is carrying a Venezuelan passport.
