News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. June 8, 2018: A newly-elected Caribbean government says it will consider the issue of decriminalizing marijuana even as Canada on Thursday night voted to approve the legalization of recreational pot with a vote of 56 to 30.

The Barbados Labor Party, (BLP), government, made the disclosure this week in the Throne Speech at the start of the new parliamentary term.  Governor General Dame Sandra Mason, however, noted that Barbadians will be consulted on the issue.     Continue reading

Canada welcomes a small group of refugees but its telegenic new PM puts on a big show.

They were hardly the poor, huddled masses Canadians might have expected.

In fact, the 163 privately sponsored Syrian refugees from Lebanon who landed in Toronto late last Thursday looked less bedraggled and besieged than other Canadians do after a long overseas flight.   Continue reading
